Galaxy A57 vs. Galaxy A37: A Review of the New Products
Samsung's A-segment smartphone lineup has been expanded with two new models: the Galaxy A37 and Galaxy A57. The new models have identical designs, but differ in specifications. The Galaxy A37 is a more budget-friendly option, while the Galaxy A57 is in a relatively higher price range. However, this alone demonstrates the differences.
Screen and Design
Both smartphones have identical displays: 6.7-inch OLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1900 nits. They are easily readable in sunlight and protected by Gorilla Glass Victus+, which protects them from scratches. However, there is a difference in design: the Galaxy A57 has significantly thinner bezels around the display, which looks much more elegant. This results in a more compact body despite the same screen size. Furthermore, the A57 is thinner (6.9 mm vs. 7.4 mm) and 17 grams lighter: 179 grams vs. 196 grams for the A37. For those who carry the phone in a tight pocket, the difference is noticeable. The difference in height, width, and thickness is measured in millimeters and decimal millimeters: 161.5 x 76.8 x 6.9 mm vs. 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm. The side bezels are also different: the A37's is made of plastic, while the A57's is metal. The back panel of both smartphones is virtually identical: a narrow unit with three cameras. Both devices are IP68 rated, meaning they are dust- and water-resistant.
Core
Perhaps the biggest difference is hidden underneath. The Galaxy A57 is equipped with the new Exynos 1680 chip, while the A37 runs on the older Exynos 1480. In terms of computing power, the difference is about 25 percent, which seems insignificant. However, the A57's GPU is almost twice as fast, so mobile gamers should take note.
The Galaxy A37 comes with just 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which is modest by today's standards, to say the least, especially if you plan to keep the smartphone for several years. There's also a version with 8GB and 256GB of storage, but it's significantly more expensive. The base Galaxy A57 offers 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a nice bonus. 256GB and even 512GB versions with 12GB of RAM are also available, though the latter seems a bit excessive for a mid-range smartphone, and its price is correspondingly high.
Operating System and Artificial Intelligence
Samsung constantly reminds everyone that AI isn't just for flagships. With One UI 8.5, the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G smartphones now boast a powerful set of AI features previously only available in high-end models. The capabilities are impressive.
One of the most useful new features is "Voice Transcription." It can convert audio recordings and voice messages into text, a huge advantage for those who don't like listening to long recordings of meetings or lectures. Simply put, you can now skip the "recordings" and just read the main points.
The "AI Selection" feature has also been redesigned: now you can simply press and hold the hidden sidebar to activate it. The system will automatically suggest available actions, such as text extraction and content creation, without the need for manual selection. Moreover, in Multi-Window mode, you can drag and drop objects, for example, to quickly move an image to a note or photo editor.
Photography features have also been improved. Object Removal has been improved to more accurately remove unwanted details from photos; a random passerby in the background will no longer ruin the shot. The Galaxy A57 5G now features Best Face, which analyzes a series of photos and assembles them into the perfect group portrait, with everyone's eyes open and no awkward expressions. Filters and Smart Suggestions offer quick enhancements, and Quick Edit simplifies video editing.
The "Draw & Search" feature has also been updated: it now recognizes multiple objects in an image simultaneously, significantly speeding up information searches.
In addition to its own AI tools, Samsung also offers third-party assistants. The updated Gemini assistant can work not only with pre-installed apps but also with some third-party apps, helping you perform more complex tasks.
The update policy is also worth noting. Both smartphones will receive up to six generations of Android and OS updates, as well as up to six years of security updates. By average standards, this is a more than generous promise.
Cameras
Neither model has a telephoto lens: the zoom function is purely digital. Both are equipped with a 50MP main camera and a 5MP macro lens. The front-facing cameras are also identical—both have a resolution of 12MP. The only difference is the wide-angle module. The Galaxy A57 has 12MP, while the A37 has 8MP. AI algorithms ensure superior performance, especially when shooting in low light.
Battery and Connectivity
Here, the devices are again identical: both have a 5,000mAh battery and support 45W wired charging. They charge to approximately 50-60 percent capacity in half an hour. In terms of connectivity and interface options, they are virtually identical. GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, Galileo, QZSS, and 5G are supported. There is also an NFC module and a USB Type-C (USB 2.0) port. Both devices support two Nano-SIM cards and one eSIM. The only differences are the different Wi-Fi versions (6E on the A57 versus 6 on the A37) and Bluetooth (6.0 and 5.4, respectively).
To summarize
The base model A57, compared to the A37, has a faster processor, a larger wide-angle camera, more RAM, and a more elegant design. It's a perfectly acceptable mid-range phone with essential components and no frills. The Samsung 37 is a more affordable alternative, especially for those with simpler needs: simply making calls, sending messages, and streaming content.
