Samsung introduced the new Galaxy S26 generation

Samsung has unveiled the much-anticipated Galaxy S26 series, which includes the Galaxy S26, 26+ base models, and the 26 Ultra flagship. Among the updates are the “Secret Display” technology, more powerful AI algorithms, and improved cameras. Details about each model are below.

Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+

The two base models are almost identical smartphones with a minimalist design. The differences mainly concern the screen size and battery. The camera block has been moved to a common platform, which is reminiscent of the style of the Galaxy Z Fold model. Now the lenses are mounted on a single platform. The body is glass with an aluminum frame. The basic Samsung Galaxy S26 model has a 6.2 to 6.3-inch screen. The Galaxy S26+ novelty has a 6.7-inch screen.

Productivity

This year, Samsung has once again relied on its own chip, introducing the world’s first 2nm Exynos 2600 processor (in select markets). This new generation processor offers significant advances not only in terms of power but also in terms of energy efficiency, ensuring longer battery life without reducing the device’s performance.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ models provide high speed when working with multiple applications simultaneously, high FPS (frames per second) when gaming, as well as accelerated artificial intelligence (AI) functions responsible for photo enhancement, sound and visual analysis.

Samsung’s basic innovations are designed for users’ daily activities, professional tasks and entertainment, balancing power, efficiency and energy efficiency.

Display

The Full HD+ display used in the base Galaxy S26 models offers a good balance between image clarity and battery life. The display has bright and natural colors, good contrast and deep blacks, which ensures pleasant viewing both on sunny days and in low light conditions.

The displays of the S26 and S26+ smartphones are designed to offer the user color accuracy, comfort and power efficiency, without compromising on performance or visual impact.

Camera

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ have the same camera setup as previous generations: a 50MP main sensor, a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. This configuration was first introduced by Samsung with the Galaxy S22, and it has already proven its worth in terms of capturing high-quality photos and videos.

This year’s changes are mainly focused on improving the optics and improving the software. New algorithms provide more accurate color reproduction, better detail in low-light conditions, and an accelerated HDR process, which allows even moving objects to be captured clearly and vividly.

Battery

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ models come with 4300–4900 mAh batteries, fast wired and wireless charging, but do not have MagSafe support.

Overall, the base models have received modest but useful updates that emphasize improvements in performance and energy efficiency.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

The design of the new flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra, compared to the previous generation, has become more comfortable to hold, thanks to rounded corners. The novelty is also slightly larger and wider, but thinner than last year's flagship. The screen size remains the same - 6.9 inches.

The rear panel has also been redesigned: three lenses are now combined into a common module, and the fourth is separate. The company has abandoned the titanium frame and returned to an aluminum frame.

“Screen privacy” .. the most interesting novelty

The most important new feature of the Galaxy S26 Ultra model is Privacy Display technology - limiting the visibility of the screen to outside observers. When the corresponding function is enabled, the screen will dim at a viewing angle of more than 45 °. It is very important that it does not reduce image quality and can be turned on or off at any time.

Productivity

The Ultra model is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy (3 nm) processor, which provides a significant increase in performance: +19% CPU, +24% GPU, +39% NPU.

Camera and AI Features

The Galaxy S26 Ultra’s camera system has retained its high-end configuration: 200MP main sensor, 50MP ultra-wide, 10MP (3x) telephoto, 50MP (5x) telephoto. The numbers remain the same, but the improved performance is hidden in the details: the optics and aperture have been redesigned, and the main progress is in the software. The new ProScaler 6 AI algorithm provides better scaling, higher detail and more natural color reproduction. AI also helps with night shooting, portraits and video processing with automatic optimization.

Battery

The battery capacity remains at 5000 mAh, but there is progress in the charging section: 60 W wired charging, 0–75% in about 30 minutes, Qi2.2 wireless charging up to 25 W.

Color palette

The Galaxy S26 series is presented in a unified color selection: black, white, purple, blue. The expected orange version was only an assumption.

AI, the main player

In the S26 series, artificial intelligence is no longer just an addition. It is involved in almost all processes:

  • in photo processing
  • in optimizing energy saving
  • in accelerating the work of applications
  • in distributing background resources

This means that the device “learns” the user’s habits and gradually becomes more efficient in the user’s usage scenarios.

Conclusion

The Galaxy S26 series is a continuation of the ideas of the previous generation - high productivity and constantly improving capabilities of artificial intelligence. The novelty proves that Samsung has changed its priorities. If previously the emphasis was on “bigger numbers”, then this year the focus has shifted to the user experience. This is a generation where everything is built not around showy innovation, but around optimized work.
